What is a Compressed Air Foam System (CAFS):

CAFS is a foam system which has the added ability to inject compressed air into the foam solution to generate a product referred to as "compressed air foam". This type of foam has a much tighter, more dense, bubble structure than plain water or standard foam solutions. Compressed Air Foam is so effective because it truly attacks all sides of the fire tetrahedron. It smothers the fire with a "foam blanket", thus preventing oxygen from combining with fuel.

CAFS is actually 15 to 30 times more effective than water and other types of foam at fighting most fires.

"Stored Energy" CAFS simply refers to the method used to dispense the CAFS. "Stored Energy CAFS units are shown below.
